While I know my clients appreciate the gallery space, I think the biggest impact the space has had is in my own sense of confidence. Knowing that I have control over the entire client experience (rather than meeting at a coffee shop where so much is left up to chance) allows me to make great use of my gift of hospitality. The "WOW" factor the space has been huge, and that in itself has boost my confidence a hundred-fold!

The connected studio-light shooting space is mainly used for pregnancy pictures, while family sessions mostly take place at the wonderful lake Chiemsee. What makes my studio special is the light-flooded newborn studio. The warm and cozy room is designed with new mamas and babies in mind, complete with comfortable chairs, light colors and enough space for wonderful newborn imagery.

I have made my studio special by adding so much of my personality and style to it. I love vintage. I love handmade. I love natural fibers with lots of texture. I incorporate those things in my studio with beautiful hardwood floors, my reclaimed barnwood background, collections of cozy vintage quilts, and props and beautiful handmade hats, wraps and headbands for newborns and babies that come to my studio. I spend countless hours creating new things for my space and new ways to utilize existing things I have in new ways.

The mood is set for them the moment they walk through the doors. They are able to see large examples of my work, and be able to roam around and not be clustered into a little room. Many times a clients sees the images of our studio online and fall in love with the idea of working with us.

As much as I would love to have a big commercial space, having a small in-house studio gives me total freedom and flexibility when I plan out my calendar. The type of photography that I do requires me to be on the go all the time so this setup works perfectly for me at this point in my career. If you are planning to shoot in a studio, make sure you have enough natural light and keep the old adage in mind that less is more. You don't need a ton of space, if you streamline and keep things minimal it all works.
