What makes your studio special?
I cherish my studio because I have been in it for 10 years now and have seen it change (my style included) as the industry as a whole has changed. Last year I completed my rebrand, and completely redesigned my studio to match—which has been such an enjoyable process for me! It has really helped me focus in on what I truly love and I know my clients feel the same when they come to visit! I joke that the couch clients sit on to view their images is also like a “counselor” couch…as the highs and lows of parenting are instantly shared as we enjoy viewing their images together. I know my clients feel loved, valued, and cherished when they come into my space.
How has it helped your business?
Having a separate space just for photography, whether that be a residential or commercial space increases the value of the work you do, as well as validates the pricing you charge.
Do you have any tips for opening a studio?
I started straight out of college, photographing on-location and selling in my clients’ homes for years, until I could make enough income to count it as my full-time job. When I was pregnant with my first child, I decided to stop lugging all my equipment everywhere and opened up my studio-debit free. It was the decision that worked best for my life and family back then. I might make different decisions now, but it was the perfect road for my back then.
What products do you sell the most?
I probably sell and design Christmas cards the most! Although I sell smaller wall portraits, frames, and albums as well.
Do you use Design Aglow products in your studio? If so, which product(s), and how have they helped your sales?
Yes!!! I have been using Design Aglow templates for years! I added in the products when I rebranded last year. I absolutely LOVE the Hawthorne Frame. I gift each client a small 5x7 frame showcasing my favorite image from their session. I also sell the Linen Heirloom Album. My packaging and USB Drives are all from Design Aglow as well, embossed in gold to match my brand.
