What makes your studio special? We are right in the heart of Portland’s SE Division area (one of the most up-and-coming neighborhoods in the US), in the newly remodeled D Street Village. We love being tucked in the middle of Portland’s creative fray. This area is evolving and expanding more and more every day; there is non-stop construction and commotion, but the bounty of world class food and incredible coffee more than makes up for it — and keeps us powered up!

How has it helped your business? The Design Aglow Studio is lovely and open, with lots of ambient light and hardwood floors. The light, simplicity, and cheerful personality of the building make for a super creative and productive workflow… and a happy team. Our space allows for easy communication and creative dialogue — we’re always sharing thoughts and inspiration collectively. We get invigorated by far more than just photography — we are most inspired by culture and creative people, so it’s only fitting our office is in one of the most culturally up-and-coming neighborhoods in the country!

Do you have any tips for opening a studio? Be patient — it took us time to find this space, and while it wasn’t exactly what we were originally looking for, it’s perfect for us. Sometimes the best things in life are worth the wait!

What products do you sell the most? Our Shop has virtually anything and everything you could dream of to boost a professional photography business to greater success. From our best-selling photography books, our innovative business tools to our Frame Shop and Paper Shop, we love dreaming up the next big thing for photographers, while saving them time and money of course. We’re currently giving away our 10 favorite best-selling Marketing products on Pinterest in a fun #designaglowwishlist contest! Come along and join us.

To take a peek inside our new Portland Studio and say hello to the Design Aglow team, please join us at our Open House next Monday evening! To get on the invite list, leave a comment with your email address. We look forward to seeing you~

I became a legal business and took my first paid client at age 20, and it's been quite a journey and adventure over the past nine years.

Both are important, but I believe growth and your creative voice is developed when you let your imagination run free without the constraints of it being “work.”

Although I majored in art and studied photography in college, my career started in marketing and advertising, from the client service end. Then I had the most beautiful baby, found my old camera and realized how much I love photographing people.
