Elizabeth Frandsen shares this her inspiring album with us today and we are impressed!! She writes, “This book just arrived at my doorstep today and I had to share it with you and tell whoever dreamed up the fairytale overlays that they are AMAZING. [Lena, lol!]
My goal with every wedding or portrait session, is to sell a custom designed album. For me, that’s the ultimate showcase of my artistic style. Because I do all my own design work, it can sometimes be challenging to provide my clients with something totally unique and different each time. I currently only offer square albums for design reasons. However, I’d been toying with the idea of an “interactive” rectangular book, one that included both horizontal and vertical layouts. Typically, I try to eliminate making my clients rotate their books. But I thought, if done correctly, it could be a way to really draw the viewer into the story. I knew to pull this type of design off it would need to be paired with something unique and fresh.
I’d never used the custom shape tool until designing with these overlays. They were so much easier to design with than had the overlays come as a brush set. And I was amazed at the variety of subjects and how perfectly the overlays all went together. I usually only incorporate one or two patterns or graphics into a book to avoid a cluttered feeling. But I used almost all the different overlays in one book and it’s simply fabulous. For some of the backgrounds, I also used Design Aglow’s Pink N’ Green patterns, which I toned down by switching their layer mode to overlay. This maintained their pattern, but made them monochromatic when layered on top of a plain fill background.
I am definitely going to add this Fairytale Book to my line up, complete with it funky page rotations and everything.”
