Installing Actions in Photoshop Elements

For Photoshop Elements 6 and newer, Mac:

#1. Using Finder, navigate to the System Hard Drive Folder (shown here as "Macintosh HD").

#2. Select the "Library" folder (make sure it is not your user library but your system library).

#3. Select the "Application Support" folder.

#4. Select the "Adobe" folder. 

#5. Select the "Photoshop Elements" folder.

#6. PSE6's folder is called "6.0", but PSE 8 and PSE 9 will have "8.0" and "9.0" folders, respectively. 

#7. Select the "Photo Creations" folder.

#8. Select the "photo effects" folder.

#9. Drag the .atn and .png files from the "DESIGN_AGLOW_UNGROUP_LAYERS_ACTION_PSE" folder. 

#10. Return to your System Hard Drive.

#11. Repeat steps #2-6 to return to the "6.0" folder.

#12. Instead of double clicking the "Photo Creations" folder this time, double click the "Locale" folder.

#13. Double click the "en_US" folder (if you are in the US. Otherwise, click the selected language and country folder).

#14. Rename the "MediaDatabase.db3" file to "MediaDatabaseORIG.db3". 

#15. Close and reopen elements, and you will see this bar. PSE is installing your new actions.  For the Ungroup Layers action

#16. The Ungroup Layer actions will appear in your Photo Effects Palette with this icon. 

#17. Open a Design Aglow template that uses groups and select the group you want to expand.

#18. Double click the Design Aglow Ungroup Layers icon in the effects palette 

#19. The previously flattened group layer will then ungroup, allowing you to edit the contents of that group by hand. 

For Photoshop Elements 6 and newer, Windows:

1) Open My Computer

2) Navigate to the “Program Files” folder

3) Select the “Adobe” folder

4) Select the “Photoshop Elements X” folder[where X is the # of your version of Elements (6.0, 7.0, etc)]

5) Select the “Photo Creations” folder.

6) Select the “photo effects” folder.

7) Drag the .atn and .png files from the “DESIGN_AGLOW_UNGROUP_LAYERS_ACTION_PSE” folder.

8) Return to your System Hard Drive.

9) Repeat steps #2-6 to return to the “6.0” folder.

10) Instead of double clicking the “Photo Creations” folder this time, double click the “Locale” folder.

11) Double click the “en_US” folder (if you are in the US. Otherwise, click the code for your country)

12) Rename the “MediaDatabase.db3” file to “MediaDatabaseORIG.db3”

13) Close and reopen elements, and you will see this bar. PSE is installing your new actions.
