Good Karma Album

Hello and welcome to the Good Karma Album.  Please take a moment to read this important information about your product. WHAT'S IN YOUR DOWNLOAD FOLDER JPEG PREVIEWS -This folder contains a small jpeg preview of each template for easy reference. PHOTOSHOP_ACTION ”“ This folder contains “GOOD KARMA - INSERT IMAGES.atn”, which is a Photoshop action that will place your images in each of the PSD templates (simply double click this file to load it into Photoshop). PSD FILES -These are the layered Photoshop files you will use to add your images to. PSE_ACTIONS ”“ This bonus folder contains actions to add your images to the PSD templates if you are using Photoshop Elements 6 or newer.  Click here to learn how to add and run actions in PSE. read_me_pretty_please_template_copyright.txt -A quick word on copyright. tutorial.txt ”“ A link to what you are reading now. FONTS: In order to maintain the look of the templates you will need to have the same font installed on your system as the one we used in the design.  (Arial)  If you have a particular font you use for your studio marketing material, we recommend using it. The fonts we use in our designs are usually freeware or shareware fonts available for free on the internet.  We cannot include the fonts in your download because they are protected under copyright.  However you can download them directly from their creators.   We find that if you type in the name of the font into your favorite search engine you will come up with several download sources. USING THE ACTION TO INSERT YOUR IMAGES (IN PHOTOSHOP): 1. Open one of the PSD page layouts. 2. Load the “GOOD KARMA - INSERT IMAGES.atn” from your download folder into Photoshop, and run the action that corresponds to the number of images on the template.  The action will stop along the way and give instructions on how to proceed. You will resize the images on the fly when the action pauses. 3. Your images will now be inserted and the template will be ready to save. USING THE ACTIONS TO INSERT YOUR IMAGES (IN PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS): 1. Open one of the PSD page layouts. 2. Load the .atn and .png files from the “PSE_ACTIONS” in your download folder into Photoshop Elements. (Click here to learn how to add and run actions in PSE.) 3. You will noticed that there are groups in your layers palette, which you can't edit.  Simple select the group, and run the UNGROUP LAYERS action in your effects palette to ungroup the layers, allowing you to edit the layers within it. 4. Run the action that corresponds to the file you have open (INSERT ONE IMAGE, INSERT FOUR IMAGES, etc).  The action will stop along the way and give instructions on how to proceed. You will resize the images on the fly when the action pauses. 5. Your images will now be inserted and the template will be ready to save. Inserting One Image At A Time: If you would like to insert the images one-by-one you may use the “INSERT ONE IMAGE” action. Make sure your PSD file is open and select the IMAGE LAYER of the space you would like to populate with your image. Play the “INSERT ONE IMAGE” action and follow instructions along the way. This action is convenient when you need to switch out an image or insert the images in another order. INSERTING IMAGES BY HAND: Inserting your own images into the templates is very easy.  Perform the following steps: 1. Select the image layer you would like to populate in your LAYERS palette. (Likely called “IMAGE LAYER”) 2. Open your image and drag it onto the template using your MOVE tool (Keyboard shortcut “V”) 3.  Click on the tiny black triangle in top right of your LAYERS palette to pull up the drop-down menu and choose “Create Clipping Mask”. 4.  Use the FREE TRANSFORM tool (Keyboard shortcut Control+T) and drag in the corners of your image to position it correctly within the frame.  Remember to hold SHIFT while you drag to constrain the proportions. 5. Press Enter to apply the transformation. Repeat this step with any subsequent images. The album template currently has room for 85 images.  If you want fewer images, we would recommend replacing a few of the layouts with a full two page image.  If you want more images, you can add more pages by duplicating a few of the layouts. CHANGING COLORS: Changing the color of the design elements and background is very simple.  Here's how: 1.  Choose the design element layer or background layer in the Layers palette.  If you cannot see the Layers palette, click the “Window” drop-down menu at the top of your screen and choose “Layers”. 2.  Now, double-click the small box of color next to the name of the layer. (If it's not a shape layer, there will be a layer above it called "X COLOR") 3.  Choose the new color when the dialog box appears. 4.  Click “OK”. PRINTING YOUR ALBUM: We have designed these templates as 11x14 pages, ready for a flush mount coffee table book from a vendor like Album Crafters.  Remember that each lab is different, so be absolutely sure that you contact them for their specs and color profiles prior to submitting your files.  When you have your lab's sizing and submission guidelines, you will need to transfer the designs to their templates before printing them.

One of the great things about running your own business is that, in theory, us business owners get to “call the shots”. We make all the decisions big and small, such as whether we run our business full or part-time, how and why we set our price points, the products we offer, our ideal clients, the list goes on.

As a photographer based in Charleston, SC, summer is my busiest time of the year. So instead of vacationing elsewhere, I like to escape in my own city for a few days at a time. Given that Charleston won the 2016  “World’s Best City” award by Travel & Leisure, after being a top city for the past four years, there’s plenty to see and do and see as a guest in my own city!
